SUNE Trade Review

Only one trade today on SUNE.. I wanted to short at the open but I avoided due to one of my rule.Do not trade the first 15 min. I took the short after it lost the vwap and the second 5min candle opened below vwap. I was initially looking for 12. But I wasn't fully convinced it will get to that level. I took it off once I got my 30 cts move for the 3:1 r/r

Shorting Into Daily Resistance

In the last few months, my strategy has been to trade gappers. I have a blog on that strategy. Its a good strategy that has good results but the set-ups don't easily come.  Today we had a good one on AQXP but I missed it as I was distracted watching other gappers. I have a small account and want exponentially grow it, so I thought to myself, how are the other traders are able to turn a small account into over 1M in less than two years. All these traders at one time in their early trading careers had conviction in their trades and went huge with defined risk of course. My biggest inspiration comes from Tim Grattini  @kroyrunner89. He was able to turn 1.5k into 2Mil in under two years. He did a FREE Video, explaining one particular strategy called Shorting into Daily Resistance. This one got me interested for a number of reasons. It's applied on the first 15 min of the open (Would work perfectly for me since I only have an hour in the morning to trade before work) Two, I like the potential it presents to make my daily goal on the first 30 min. I have studied charts the last couple of weeks and noticed if a stocks gaps up on less important news e.g beat earnings by a small margin, the stock tends to get faded after a morning pop to or at near daily resistance. I will give an example below. I will continue updating this blog on this particular strategy.
I am still new at this and I am sure there are other factors I haven't considered but for now it seems to be working.

This morning I ran my gapper scan on this Website as I usually do and found TTI.

I pulled out the daily chart and noticed there was resistance at the 6.50 level. There wasn't much activity going on pre -market.. so that for me served as one of the confirmation this might be faded.
Stock opened up at 5.92 and ran to HOD at 6.65. I had an order entry at 6.50 short, as this was the daly resistance. Stop was 25 cents.I am only trading small shares, so I gave myself some room. My entry was hit and the stock faded and went red on the day. Below is a snap short of the daily, 5 and 2 min along with the R lines drawn.

Another ticker that wasn't on my gapper but had the same set-up this morning was OAS. Daily resistance at 10.75. It didn't get to it but had a nice morning pop to 10.70 and faded.

Gimani Swing Trading

Moving forward I want to incorporate swing trading for a 2 to 5 days hold. I will be going through a master watchlist every Sunday that have a specific scanning criteria. Brings about 500 - 1000 stocks..Will be looking for flags, flattop breakout and breakdown and pullbacks to Ma's. I will do a post on each specific set-up and what I will be looking for. The reason for going through so many charts is to help me becoming better in my chart reading skills. I will be doing a weekly review of all my trades (both day trades and swing) I will create a spreadsheet and update every week. This will include entries, stop and exits.

I believe if I can follow this process for the next six months, it will greatly increase my trading skills.

Keep it tuned for an update.

Trades review for 5/13/2015

I did not trade today but I want to form a habit of posting trades that I take and ones I didn't that had good set-ups. I am struggling with forming a habit of  reviewing trades.

Gappers I was watching this morning FCSC, PTIE, GEVO and BIOC

 Trade review.
I watched this stock pass my buy point at around 4.30 after the move above VWAP. Very very frustrated with myself today. Why cant I have the balls to take trades and trust my strategy. No trade is 100 % guaranteed, but as long as I have my stop in place, why not take the trade. Missed a .60 move on this. 1000 shares woudl have netted $600.  I think I have a lot of self doubt and don't want to be wrong so I end up missing out on so many trades. This is a killer for me right now.

05/07/2015 Trade Review

ADXS was bear flagging on the daily as shown on the chart below. Note the last candle represents today. I was short biased.

Intra-day ,I was looking for a push to 19.50 - 20 and fail  for a short.  As you can see below,  it ran to 19.55. I waited for a lower high and entered at 19.09. I also used the vwap for more conviction. As you can see the stock failed to break above vwap. I took profits too fast, but I was able to stand with one major rule. Respect my stop. I had a stop above vwap.

Trade reviews for 04/22/2015

Gappers I was watching this morning.

Trade Reviews

ONVO - I traded this poorly and did not respect my rules. I Took a short on it and it had not crossed the red line. It was just under vwap.

GBSN - I had the right idea but it was poor trade execution, I bought on the pop and set my stop too tight.

Acknowledgments.
You need to make good entries and give room. Setting stops too tight.
Be patient and trust your set-up and plan.

Trades Review for 4/21/2015

Gappers I was watching this morning. BIOC, BCLI, LJPC and VLTC

Trade Reviews

LJPC - Stocks usually dip at the open and once they cross over vwap , I look to buy on the second or third candle confirmation. I missed the first entry. The stock broke the top line, pushed but came back and I entered on the test of the top line, it held and came back up. I got out at half dollar mark which happened to be slightly above the HOD.

BIOC - I was anticipating pop at the open, push and then get short. I waited for the break of the red line and test. It did exactly that. What added to my confirmation is it didn't hold above the vwap. I got out at the point that was yesterday's high and I felt this might act as a support area.

Rules of Trading

Here are a list of rules I am working on  as I get to know more about myself and my trading. These will change from time to time and I will continue to add them as time goes by.
  1. Stick to your plan
  2. Respect your stops. Do not exit pre-maturely before the stop is hit and no reason to exit
  3. Use 2 min and 5min chart comparison to get a better entry. Then use the 5 min to exit to give you the patience
  4. Before taking a trade, view the stock on a longer time frame , 15 min, 30 min and 1 hour on 2-3 days to get a bigger picture of the support and resistance areas.

Trade Review for 04/16/2015

Below are the stocks I was watching at the open. INVE, ROSG, NUGT and CLSN

I took  a long on ROSG as I thought it was flagging with decreasing volume or forming the abcd pattern if you add the per-market part of the chart. I was wrong and instead of concentrating on the gapper strategy, I got distracted. The ideal entry for short would have been as shown by the green arrow below. This broke the red line, retested and failed. I am still learning on how to follow a plan and not deviate.

Trade Review for 04/15/2015

Below is a snapshot of my morning gapper list. I didn't see any solid set-up, but I took only trade.

BLDR was nearing the red line on my gapper list shown on the screenshot. I took the short at 13.09 anticipating the break of the lower line, but covered at 13.23. I felt it was about to squeeze. I would have looked at the big picture and put my stop at 13.41. 13.50 This was yesterday support and turned resistance point today.

Gapper Strategy and Trade Review

Before I write anything, I want to say my reviews, comments and explanations will obviously differ from many but this is work in progress and it's important to me to journal and review my trades. Feel free to leave comment but please let it be a constructive.

I am working on a Gapper strategy that I learned from

Look for the gappers that are more than 5%. I use this website to look for pre-market gappers. Make a list of at least 2-4 best set-ups per-market in terms of volume and chart. I use ThinkorSwim for charting. After the first 15 min,  draw two lines, one on high of the first 15 min and one on the low of the first 15 min (These will be in 5 min time-frame) as shown below. Then watch for the stock that is close to breaking the upper line for long or lower line for short.  Then I put this stock on watch on my main screen and look for entry.

If you take a look at the above screenshot. You will notice I had four stocks on watch. TPLM, BLDR,BCLI and GBSN.  TPLM and BLDR had a nice break of the first 15 minutes range. A good entry for TPLM was at  6.20  (But I was too early and messed the plan on this. See below) and BLDR good entry was at 13.35. As for BCLI and GBSN they didn't move as expected. Simply put you only need one of two stocks to act well.

Trade Review.
TPLM - long (The green arrows indicate buy and red arrows indicate cover or sell)
I was early on this stock and should have waited for the 6.20 break and hold. Second entry was close enough in anticipation of the break but the stock spike with a big red candle on the 5 min that stopped me out only to come back and break the 6.20 ish entry according to plan.
